Presbyterian Women exists in Ardstraw to encourage women to follow Christ and become more Christ-like.
The inaugural meeting of the then Presbyterian Womens' Association (PWA) in Ardstraw took place on Wednesday 13th November 1991. Our past presidents were Mrs Liz Brown & Mrs Arlene Stevenson. Our current president is Mrs Valerie Reid.
Our monthly meeting usually consists of prayer, praise and a Bible reading followed by a Guest Speaker. These include deaconesses, PCI missionaries and a wide range of guests from other mission organisations. We also have cookery demonstrations, craft evenings, musical items, question & answer sessions (where we get to put a panel of experts 'in the spotlight!') and 'do it yourself' evenings with Bible study and drama. Through this well planned and varied programme, our PW incorporates all five purposes of the church - Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry & Evangelism. At the close of our meeting, we enjoy a 'wee chat' over a delicious supper.
As part of our aim to share God's love in a practical way, we cater during the summer months for groups and organise and provide tea at funeral services.
